Why Choose Nelly's Nursery?

We are a family-run business with our own children and so have every motivation to provide fantastic childcare and education.

Our staff are exceptional, well qualified, caring and commited to the children in their care. They are always welcoming and will go that extra mile to make sure that your child is happy in the nursery, providing an excellent basis on which each child can develop and progress to their full potential.

We are proudly multicultural and children from all backgrounds, religions and cultures are made welcome in a variety of ways.

We have officers who are responsible for ensuring that individual needs are met and we actively welcome children who have learning or other difficulties.

We recognise the importance of involving parents in all aspects of their child’s care and strive to ensure that no barriers can prevent this.

We have CCTV cameras throughout the premises and on the entry door and car parks

We have strict zero tolerance policies on mobile telephones and cameras. We do not have a web link and therefore remove the possibility of children in our nursery being viewed by unauthorised or unwanted persons (for example when parents who can access the facility leave it open at their desk or allow others to view what their own child is doing, forgetting that other children are also playing alongside).

We have finger guards fitted on the internal doors, a comprehensive fire alarm system, heat regulated taps and radiator guards. Our baby room has under floor heating.

We are particularly keen to work in partnership with parents and carers and to care for the children as individuals.

We ensure that our staff are actively engaged in continual professional development.

We keep an individual detailed profile of every child's development, accompanied by evidence of the children's work and photographs wherever possible of their activities - parents/carers can refer to this at any time and take it with them when they leave for school.

We have separate play areas for the various age ranges along with dedicated outside play areas direct from the children’s rooms.

The vast majority of our business comes from recommendation.

We go on regular local outings, the local canal to feed the ducks, hunts for resources (leaves for matching and sorting for instance) and to the nearby library to join in with their fun story telling activities whenever these are available to us.

"The nursery school is an extension of the function of the home, not a substitute for it; but experience has shown that it brings to the child such a great variety of benefits."
(Isaacs 1954)
